| Very nice! Does the headstock pin stripe go around the truss rod cover or behind it? | |

It goes behind it. What does that mean?

| The stripe behind the truss rod cover is the more common method.
If the stripe goes around the truss rod cover that means it is a very early model. The stripe around the truss rod cover was dropped very early in production. Chip said they employees were having a difficult time getting everything lined up properly. I have only seen three or four early models with that stripe. Chip has no idea how many were made, but is certain that it was not very many.
But you have a six-digit T, there aren't a lot of those around either.

| Hi ... today I found a used T-40 in a pawnshop for $300 Canadian. My main bass has been a Cirrus for several years now and I love it, so I thought I would add the T-40, and then discovered this forum, and your serial number database.
My T-40's serial is 00464859, which I think makes it a 79?
Anyways. I now have two fantastic Peavey basses, and nice to meet you.

| It looks like a 1982 serial number, that's about all I can tell about it for sure. You've probably got blade pickups with small flat switches and the headstock probably reads U.S. Patent number... | |

| I got my second T40 yesterday! Serial number is 00805575. It's a lovely natural with maple neck, and it's in nice condition. The bridge pickup was dead when In first plugged it in, but a push on the chrome housing fixed it (for now). I actually met with the seller for his T45 (serial 01258544, sunburst) but he also had his T40 laying around. The latter just appeared to be the better deal to me. I was actually very surprised by the totally different character of both models!? Anyway, I'm happy having 2 T40's, both from my birthyear! I'll add some pictures of them later...

| Congrats on another birthyear T-40! Since Peavey wasn't making instruments in 1966 I have to content myself with going after ones from my high school graduation year. | |
