PostSubject: Buying a T-40   Fri Mar 07, 2008 1:48 pm

Well folks, as I mentioned in the General Discussion part of the Forum, I am buying a T-40. I decided that with the weight being more or less the same, that I would go with the T-40 over the T-45. I like the clean look of the T-45 (no pickguard), but am looking forward to the tonal flexibility of the T-40.

I can't wait! Very Happy

Hi Mark from Wisconsin.
Welcome to the forum. I have an early model (1984) fury. It has the 1st edition pickups like t-20 and the matte natural body and gloss natural neck like natural T-40's. It has a fair amount of wear and one replaced tuner, but plays and sounds great. It's the bass in the 8th post on this thread.

No case for it as yet, but I can look around and we can work something out. Make me an offer.

He had both a white T40 and a sunburst T45 when I was last in there but you're right, he doesn't keep his website very current. If you've never been there it's definitely worth a trip. It's kind of like stumbling into an old attic that's jammed full of funky old guitars, basses and amps. Stuff is piled everywhere and jammed into every corner. It's truly an amazing little shop.

Hi KRS,

I'm in Stevens Point. Brrrr.

I googled Greg Ginter's Guitar Shop, he doesn't list the T-40 on his website. Maybe I'll email him about the price. I get down to Madison every so often, but I've never been to his shop.

Thanks for the lead!

Where are you located Mark? Greg Ginter's Guitar Shop on Atwood Ave in Madison has a sunburst T-45, I think with rosewood board. I just saw it a couple days ago but I don't know what he's asking for it. He generally runs a bit on the high side but his stuff is usually in pretty good condition.

New to the Forum! I also own a Peavey T-60.

I'm also a bass player and that's what's getting me gigs right now. I'm looking for a late 70s to early to mid-80s T-45. My preference is for a bass with a rosewood fretboard. However, a maple neck wouldn't be a dealbreaker on the right instrument. I do like the Peavey-style sunburst!

I'm also open to considering a T-20, Fury or Foundation from the era mentioned above. Because of wear I like to rest my thumb on the bass, I'm not a fan of the P-bass-style pickups...

I can do Paypal if that is what you prefer...

Mark from Wisconsin!
