I'm not sure how common these are.......... This was in the case with my T-40. At some point, it was left on the bass for a long time and it actually ate into the pickguard. That's why I replaced the stock pickguard with the pearloid one.
I put it over the new pickguard........just for reference

Those are pretty rare. It seems that most owners tossed them very quickly. Love the pearl guard.
