Snagged a T-40 for free!

Hey I'm new to the forum (and to Bass for that matter). Had a buddy give me this Bass & amp b/c he never used it and I was interested in learning. He says he picked it up for $40 with the amp maybe 10 years back. Played a bunch yesterday & learned some simple bass lines (7 nation army, another one bites the dust, smoke on the water).

Next on the to-do list is to get it re-strung, and get a new pick guard as this one has some shit carved into it. I'm also thinking of restaining it a darker color. Some jackass put a sticker on it so the finish is faded there. Also need to snag a case & stand.

Having fun with it so far & am definately going to work on getting better over time!

I just checked the serial number and it's a PAF T-40!

Sorry for bein a noob but what does PAF stand for? Is that somethin special?

PAF refers to the early T's that had the text "Patent Applied For" on the headstock.

AH, yes I had noticed that on the headstock but didnt put 2+2 together. Very cool!
