T-40 humbucker? Empty
PostSubject: T-40 humbucker?   T-40 humbucker? I_icon_minitimeMon Aug 30, 2010 8:56 am

From what I could se from the wiring diagram (my t-40 hasn't arrived yet...), it seems like there is 3 wires coming from each p.u. It seems as there is common ground and one positive/+ from each coil. If so, then the p.u.'s are wired in parallel, and not series (witch is the "normal" idea of a humbucker).
Does anybody know anything about it? Question

And stop complaining about the t-40 being heavy! My current bass is 5,2kg/11,6lb

The pickups are wired in series with the white and black being the endpoints. The red wire is the centertap wire that's tied in between the two coils. The bare wire is the ground of the chrome cover to be soldered to the case of its volume pot. We really needed a 350k ohm pot as the red wire allows a bit of bleed-off of high overtones. I highly suggest clipping or disconnecting the red wire at the tone pot. You will have a more full sound, as you'll be using those high overtones at full treble position of the tone knob.
