......just found a T-40 in a school i was working at that was just going to be chucked away as they just got new equipment in!! i was shock!!

so i grabbed at the chance to get one of these for free, its in quite good nick apart from the pickup selector switch has snapped, can anyone help me find a replacement switch, im from the uk so a source local would be good.

Ha, Ha - a pic of the bass Laughing

I have several switches - so I looked up the old supplier and they
have no more left. The idea being, I can let you have one at what
it will cost me to replace it.
Having had a look round, it's around about £12.00 - I'm sure I can
get them for less but would need more time to look.
If you want it quickly, I would have to say £12.00 + posting, at the
moment.

Let me know.

Cheers. Smile

Sorry. Have had connectivity issues and haven't been on in a few days.

First off, welcome to the show and congrats on pickup up a T-40.

Looks like that serial number is a 1979.

bigbassuk88;

From a bit of troubleshooting, I would venture to suggest your cutting out problem would more likely be from the output jack internal grounding. The brass tube that makes the ground with the plug doesn't get nickel or chrome plated like the signal tab, as electroplating doesn't get into tubes or sharp corners like the rest of the jack. I have found that a 30 cal. or 9mm firearm barrel brush, (bronze, not bristle), will remove the transparent corrosion that forms on bare brass. I have thrown away many cords before I learned this. Jacks, whether on guitars, amps, or telephone switchboards, just have a sorry grounding scheme.
