I just picked up this 1979 T-40. I traded a '99-'00 Ibanez SR-405 for it.... what a steal. The guy that I got it from had stained the body from teh natural finish to a dark mahogany. I was wondering if this affects it's worth much over time? Oh yeah another crazy thing about this bass is that it still have the plastic over the pick-guard

Congrats - you made a great trade.

Still got the plastic on the pickguard?! You've gotta post some pics. PM the serial number and info to me, I'd like to add it to the serial number database.

I guess T-40s are starting to appreciate in value since all of the trendy "furniture" buyers have driven the price of some things out of the player's range. Still,, Most Peavey stuff is good, solid and affordable. Don't think the stain will dramatically alter the value, since the main value of these are not as shelf-sitting collectibles. They Belong on a player on a stage, getting sweated up and being heard!

Just my opinion.
