| Hello to all. I’m happy to be a part of this network. I found this site in an obscure way. I was looking up a site to try to find the age of my T-40 and clicked on this link off of another link. I bookmarked it rite away out of fear of never finding it again. What’s with that ?? Before I bought this bass, I scoured the internet to find out everything I could about it. This site never came up in any searches. Oh well? I have played bass on and off for 23 years. Mostly off and that’s why I Mostly still Suck at it . The thing is, once I was bitten by the low tones and groove of a bass I was never able to give it up. Just gave it long rests. I was buying a house and needed quick cash so I wound up selling my Stingray I had for ten or so years. I didn’t play it often but once it was gone I HAD to get another bass. I’m glad I did. I had done some looking around and realized the value of the T-40 for the money. I love this beast of a bass!! I find it more comfortable to play then my old Stingray and the tone range is phenomenal. It has prompted me to buy a new amp that can reproduce the dynamics of what my T-40 is capable of creating. O.K. I always wanted an Ampeg anyways. That worked for my wife though . I’m looking forward to participating in the forums. I doubt I will post any pics rite away. It looks just like all the other natural finished T-40’s out there. Maybe when I get good enough to gig again I will post pics of my beast in action. | |

| Excellent & Congratulations!
Yeah, I've been saying that for a while, for some reason this site is damn near impossible to find. I found an obscure link on like page 83 of a GOOGLE search.
I try to spread the word whenever possible.
It's funny, I've been playing on and off for years myself. I've only recently discovered the T40 about a year ago. I've had Alembic's, Rickenbacker's, more than I care to mention, there is just something about this bass.
I too play through an Ampeg RIG. Depending on the amp settings, types of pickups on your T, and the strings, it can be REALLY heavy in the low end. SO, I went out got one of each. The early toaster type, as pictured at the top of the forum, and set it up with flatwound strings.....I have a later blade version with a set of Rotosounds.....best of both worlds!
Post as often as you can, most of us check in here daily, and I'm guilty of it myself, If I don't see a post, I don't post.
So again, welcome. You will find lots of information here and lots of friendly folks!
PLAY LOUD!

| Thanks for the welcome greeting. I was doing some reading around on the site. First, there is loads of info on here. Second, I hope what I read in regards to members not participating in the forums proves to be untrue. I belong to the T-40 club on BassTalk and I have yet to get a single responce to any of my posts. Its always the same three or four people that converse and if you chime in its as if you don't exsist. I always think "What a bunch of arogant pri#ks". Either they are a bunch of arogant pr#!s or what I have to offer is useless and unentertaining. I found that my bass has been altered by the previous owner. The three way switch is two way so I have never heard what both pick ups in unison sound like or with the phase switch operating. Bumber. I'm taking it to a local shop to have it rewired w/ the three way. I'm on the fence about clipping the red wires and making tone knobs into tone knobs. I think the only way I would do it is if I added two more switches to allow me to put the pick ups back to humbuckers when I wanted. Thats a lot of shit on the bass though. I don't want to complicate it any more than it is but I really do hate that above 7 on the tone knob crap. Who looks at that and can actually see it is past 7 while its strapped on anyway??? I want to see what members are where in relation to me and maybe getting together and make some music ....or just a 4 on the rhictor scale!!! | |

| I'm new to Talkbass myself so I can't comment on how that forum operates. I've posted a few times. I get the FEELING that most of them are kinda young. Just a guess on my part. Oh man, JUST WAIT until you get the wiring situation worked out. I'm amazed how these kick A@@....Really, I've owned over 60 basses in my day, and these things are unmatched as far as power. When I FIRST plugged in my T40, I had to drop the amp volume by 2/3's from where I had it set for my Rickenbacker! Here is a link to find those pesky switches. They are kind of tricky to find, so if your guy says he can't come up with them, here you go. http://www.peaveyt60.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=133There are some links on this forum as well. There are a few die hard fans here, about 4 or 5 who come in daily. ANOTHER place we tend to hang out is on the T60 fourm and the Peavey Bassment....Here are those links. http://www.peaveyt60.com/phpbb3/index.phphttp://peaveybasses.forumotion.com/forum.htmWe've been talking about trying to find one SOLID place where we can all kind of hang together, but nothing has been decided it seems. This place would be fantastic but somehow, we've got to get the search issue resolved. . I'm GUESSING that the reason this site doesn't turn up in the search engines is the "peaveyt40.forumotion" that is in the page title. I'm not a techie, but just a hunch. There are all kinds of wiring diagrams, parts suppliers, and even Chip...the fellow who "fathered" the T40. LOTS of info out there, just ask if there is something you don't find. Once the other fellows get home, I'm sure they'll chime in. | |

| Yeah, come on over to the T-60 Forum. Chip hangs out there a lot. We've got a bass forum set up there too, but it doesn't seem to get a lot of traffic.
I don't know what it is about the four Peavey bass forums I frequent. There just isn't as much traffic on them as the guitar forum.

I'm strictly rhythm. I prefer to stand back with the bassist and drummer. Let the lead player and singer fight for center stage.

| The transition to pick would be much easier if you ordered some ITOC picks. | |
