| Like it says, who regularly plays live on a T-40, or who has done so regularly in the past? I'll start. for 2-3 years I gigged with my 79 in my old band "Something Ordinary" an original rock/pop band. It sounded great, and never let me down. I was seduced for a while by a jazz bass I built and then a 55-01, but that all ended when I joined a country band... I won the spot with a Fender Precision (no surprise there) but then I started bringing my T-40's to practice. No one had a problem with them, and now my main bass for playing with Janesville ( www. janesvillecountry.com ) is my DS'd T-40. I think for rock, blues, country, folk, etc. there really isn't anything in those genre's that can't be handled onstage with a T-40! | |

| I gotta say, I'm a little disapointed. An entire forum dedicated to the T-40, and I'm the only one who gigs with one? Surely someone else out there is putting the t-40 where it deserves to be? | |

| I got my T-40 last November and have been carrying it as a spare on all gigs since, playing it during soundchecks to find out what it can do through my stage rig. It hasn't replaced my main gigging bass, but seeing as I've been playing that one for 30 years and know it inside out, that's not to be expected so soon. I will say it's the closest thing yet for midrange punch and solid bottom end, and since it's also ash/maple I'm comfortable with it.
I have one or two other band projects coming where I might use the Peavey from the outset and break it in properly. It hasn't been played much (judging from the frets) and is not yet as responsive as it will be after a little more exercise.

I wish I had some gigs to play it at. Unfortunately I'm between bands s it just gets played at home at the moment.

I don't really gig right now, mostly because I don't have the time. However, whenever I do go and jam with people, the T-40s are what I take.

| I'm not really a bassist. I'm just a guitarist that owns a T-40 for his own amusement. | |

| I use my T-40 most often at my weekly church gig and occassionally in the band I'm in. I'd use it more but I really like playing 5-string for the band. | |

| My T-40 has pretty much been my main bass since '80 when I got it. I'm between bands right now, but like kevdel's, she gets played every Sunday morning during the "contemporary" (rowdy electric) service.

| Finally, some folks who gig on the might T-40!
Don't feel bad Kevdel, when your 5 string is a DJ, I understand the attraction. I have a great respect for Lakland basses, even the humble 55-01 which is my only fretted 5 string.

| I played 3 sets last week, and 1 of them was with the T-40. It is the same weight as my five string, so thats fine with me. It actually cut through the mix better than my main! | |

T40's will do that... Glad to hear of another dude getting the T-40 on stage. I just had my DS'd T-40 on stage last night. Definately worth the weight.

| i gigged my T-40 around 1981 (this is based on dating by Peavey & this site, not my memory) quite a bit. while in a group my friends called "that cowboy outfit" ( blues & southern rock for the critics out there), our particular contract had us playing 3 times a week ( damn you all to hell, Stars East! ) sometimes good, sometimes in some real hovels. we had two guitarists, both played through PA mike'd little amps, one guy played Fenders through a Mesa Boogie, the other a Gibson through a Fender Champ or Princeton, i think i have that right, could have the amps wrong, but those little amps could be piercing, whatever they were & Advil wasn't invented yet. needless to say given the big output of the T-40, it effortlessly punched through & depending upon the size of the hovel, i used an SVT or an old Bassman 10. the drummer loved it | |

| I play gigs with my 79 t-40. I play in a psychadelic rock, heavy groove, blues, Funk, reggae band. It's been a great bass for a band that plays a wide variety of music. I can get 6 different tones with the flick of a switch and two tone knobs. In humbucker mode it's got a nice bite that cuts through a loud band nicely. For mellower stuff single coil mode sounds nice. I've got it set up so that with just the bridge pickup on it's got a treble boost that helps cut through, with both pu's on it's a balanced tone, and with neck pu on it's bassier. The T-40 is a very versatile instrument, and it's built like a tank. I love mine. | |
