| Hello everyone! I'm wondering if the PAF really has any value to the T40? I don't seriously believe it does and was under the impression that it always says this on every neck that's manufactured?
Someone care to educate me? Thanks! |

| Most of us desire a PAF model over earlier models for various reasons. Does PAF add to the value? Depends on who you ask. To me a PAF is worth more than a late model, but to each his own.
Here's a breakdown of the headstock text that I have compiled. These aren't official names, just what I call them.
PAF (6-digit, 8M and early 8-digit serial numbers)
* headstock front ** small "Patents Applied For" text ** big Peavey logo ** big T-40 logo ** small "Made in U.S.A."
* headstock rear ** stamped serial number
Mid Models/U.S. Patent (8-digit serial numbers)
* headstock front ** small "Made in U.S.A." ** big Peavey logo ** big T-40 logo ** small "U.S. Patent No. 4,164,163 Other Patents Pending"
* headstock rear ** stamped serial number
Late Models/U.S.A. Made (8-digit serial numbers)
* headstock front ** small "Made in U.S.A." ** big Peavey logo ** big T-40 logo
* headstock rear ** small U.S. Patent Nos. 4,164,163 and 255,462 and 4,327,944 and Other Patent Applications Pending" ** stamped serial number

And of course, don't forget the ones that have the added FL to the T-40 logo. |

| Very true. I was only listing the true T-40 variations. I have the T-40FL listed separate in my notes. _________________ Tony ITOC #05-00013

| The very early ones apparently have the tracing around the headstock going all around the truss rod cover, too, rather than straight under it. |

Dang. I keep forgetting about those. I guess I need one in my herd to remind me. _________________ Tony ITOC #05-00013

| Another indicator of a very early one is a trace around the trussrod cover like this: |

| Chip said that very few T-60s and T-40s were produced with the head outline around the truss cover. Something about the ladies that applied the decal were having a devil of a time getting it to line up properly. Personally I love the look of the truss cover surrounded like that. _________________ Tony ITOC #05-00013
