| Hi Folks, Just joined up. Great to see a forum dedicated to my favorite bass. I have two T-40's, a stock natural '79, and a White '80 with darkstars that has become my main stage bass. I'll post info about the '80 later.
Quick question, I compiled a rather large T-40 Info-Sheet that I posted over at TB. Should I post it in here or in T-40 Techinical information or both?
Thanks, Eilif | |

| I'd post in the Technical topic. Welcome to the forum!!!
I haven't tried dual dark stars, just the single one in my T-45. Well worth the price though for the tone achieved.

| Jerry, the 45 I'm sending you is a prime candidate for a DS. PRIME!!! | |

| Scott, that is exactly what I had in mind. You introduced me to the Dark Stars and for that and other things, I thank you . Very excited about doing this to the 45. Jerry | |

| Go for it. watch out though, one DS is nice, but 2 is really something! DS's are kind of addictive. | |

| I need to try another DSed bass. The only one I never played just seemed to amplify finger noise and didn't produce any sound that apealed to my ears Everyone raves about them so I'll keep an open mind | |

| Hey FL, Good to see that you are over here. Out of curiosity, which DS bass did you play? I do find the t-40 with DS's is generally unforgiving of sloppy technique, but I haven't found that it amplifies finger noise.
However, I've tried a couple of DS basses, and I can say that there was a DS'd p-style that I played that was really spanky, with what I felt was too much bite and snap and almost untamable highs, even through a tube amp. I chalked it up to what I suspected was a too high pole height and probably obnoxiosly bright stainless steel strings.
I posted the info on DS'd T-40 in the "modded t-40" forum

I posted the info on DS'd T-40 in the "modded t-40" forum The one I played was a Warmoth "Fender P" clone at a guitar show in Orlando. At this point, I much prefer the stock Peavey T-40/45 pups. I would like to try a DS bass that was set up, dialed in and sounding as intended!!

| Knife,
I've found just the complete opposite from your experience with a DS. Although I do use Pyramid flatwound strings on my DS'd T-45. McCartney tone all day long.
I have yet to play a DS'd bass with rounds. I'd love to. I'm not about to change the flats on this bass. They've been on there almost 2 years now and are just getting better with age.
