I've been working on this project for a long time. I figured I'd post pics of where I'm at. I had a natural body that was really beat up. I decided to try my first refinish ever. It's been a very interesting process. I'm not sure I like the color too much but I wasn't about to sand all over again. So, here are some before/after pics.

Right now it has 2 coats of Tung Oil. I plan on putting 3 more on. The finish gloss isn't even yet. I'm using 0000 steel wool between coats. It's coming out ...

I hope this is not in bad form, here's another bit that I did a while back and am bringing in from elsewhere

In the beginning the T-40 came in the mail, but it's cavity was formless, lacking pickups pots and wires...

Then Fred Hammon sent along a set of his fabulous Darkstar pickups and Butch (Owner: Bayou Cables)sent some enormous orange caps, and this was the rough result

Not satisfied with the gaps on the sides of the pickups, I made these: (rough form)

Here's a few pics of a custom 5 string converted from a T-40 that Chip Todd was making for me that unfortunately never came to be. He got most of the way through the process, and as it was hanging up drying from a coat of clearcoat, it fell to the ground and smashed apart.

This was going to be called a T-50.....5 string get it?? haha. I just stumbled across these photos and thought I'd share them. Hope Chip doesn't see this and feel bad. I'm ok now....

T-40 With J-Bass Neck

Has anyone done this?

Since my other bass is a g&l p-bass, I wanted something with a smaller neck.

I really don't need another bass (no $$) and the t-40 handles most tonal options.

Would I have to drill any new holes? I'd like to do little to no changes to the actual bass; can I get a j-bass neck with no holes drilled into it and use the holes already in place on the t-40?

If no one can answer me, can I have a link to the bassment?

I don't own it anymore, but I rescued it from a pawn shop (with case and all of the other case goodies that I didn't previously have) for $250. Since it was my #3, I decided to do some electronics modification. I added in coil taps and varitone switches from HAS sound for each pickup. In case you want to try it out for yourself, here's the basic schematic that I used.

Because I was essentially adding two more pots to the control cavity, I needed more room, so I routed the control ...
